Hikkaduwa - Udawalawe

Begin your day by visiting the historic Galle Fort before heading towards Tissamaharama. Upon arrival, enjoy a snack or lunch in Tissamaharama. At 2:00 p.m., embark on a 4-hour jeep safari through Yala National Park, known for its incredible wildlife. After the safari, spend the night in a tree house in the Yala jungle, enjoying a special candlelight dinner in this unique setting. The following morning, after breakfast, return to Hikkaduwa. On the way, stop to witness traditional stilt fishing.

Alternatively, continue your journey to Udawalawe National Park. Upon arrival, observe the baby elephant milk feeding program, a heartwarming experience. In the afternoon, enjoy a safari in Udawalawe, which is known for its elephant population. Afterward, return to Hikkaduwa.

Yala National Park
Yala National Park is the second largest national park in Sri Lanka, located in the southeastern part of the island in the dry zone. About 300 km from Colombo (roughly a 6 to 8-hour drive from the capital or airport), it is renowned for its high leopard density. Yala is the most visited and popular national park in Sri Lanka.

Udawalawe National Park
Located about 4 hours` drive from Colombo/Airport, Udawalawe National Park was established to provide a sanctuary for wildlife displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe reservoir. The park protects the reservoir`s catchment area and serves as an important habitat for Sri Lankan elephants. The park`s open habitats attract large herds, with more than 250 elephants believed to live in the area year-round.
